Step Out
This is a 16" X 20" acrylic on canvas. Sometimes the feet just don't want to move even though it's uncomfortable where they are standing.

A Close Up

Not titled
Not much change, just a little re-design taking some of the business away. This is under paint at this point using acrylic release techniques. That's pencil you see, but I rolled gesso over it for two reasons. First to set it so that it wouldn't smear and the second is to use the drawing as a shadow of what's to come. I may or may not keep some of the drawing as part of the finished work. There will be a lot of collaged acrylic paint applied like a decal such as you see dead center. This may end up being a self portrait speaking to the mechanical human being. I'm rolling those thoughts around in my head, especialy in light of some of the glazing techniques I've developed lately. The drawing is complex and the paint will be even more so. Think of this as a sugested road map that you may not follow to the letter. I seldom use a drawing because of the confines it establishes. I like paint to be paint. De kooning, Pollock, and Basquait are high on my list for inspiration but I do a little bit of everything. When something hits my world I have to paint it the way I envision it and it's a process because I change my mind as my moods change. Another words, nothing is written in stone. Welcome to my world. I hope you enjoy watching this process.

Working with other artists
Tomorrow I will have two really great artist joining me in my studio to work on some science we have shared for 10 years or so. The result of our collaboration I hope to post here for the world to see. We are doing our best to be 21st century artists pushing the envelope of our trade, skills, and talent to the very max degree. Each of us have our own painting styles and have approached this with our own emotions and enthusiasm but the science we have shared.

"Glaze Maze"
This is the first painting for 2012, a 16" X 20" acrylic on canvas. The challenge was to layer images and layer paint film with the last layer being a reverse release shiny side up applied like a decal. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! A bit of science for all you crazy people out there.
Tangerine Tango
Well after a few set backs this is the last painting for 2011 ending on a high note. This is a 16" X 20" acrylic on canvas and I titled it after the color of the year for 2012.
